Law Society Governance Review – what do you think?

Submitted by Sam Audley on Tue, 07/06/2016 - 15:58

As you may be aware, a Governance Review is being undertaken by the Law Society and at the recent Council meeting on 18 May 2016 an independent report was placed before Council making a number of recommendations.  Following consideration of that report, it was agreed that a Council working group will develop some further proposals which include:

  • The creation of a senior board;
  • How that board could be chaired and how board members and other governance positions could be appointed;
  • Whether  a maximum term for council members  should  be introduced
  • The Law Society is very keen to hear from members with their suggestions and there is a dedicated email address for these – representation@lawsociety.org.uk.  If you would like to express any thoughts, please use this email.  Alternatively, please feel free to contact Lubna Shuja, who is one of your Council Members, with your views and she will be happy to convey them to Council.  Lubna can be contacted by email at info@legalswan.com or by telephone on 0121 551 7866.  You can read Lubna’s latest Council Members Update and the Report of Catherine Dixon, Law Society CEO here.
