Law Society Governance Review
The Law Society Gazette has reported this week that ‘Chancery Lane is keen to hear the views of members on how it should be governed’, writes vice-president Robert Bourns in the Gazette.
He says that, ‘alongside agreeing a new strategy last year, your Law Society council also decided it is the right time to review the way your organisation is governed.’
The Law Society has urged the Legal Ombudsman to consider a more flexible approach to it’s case-fee mechanism to protect small firms and reduce the incentive for firms to settle complaints without merit before they are referred to LeO.
Law Society president Jonathan Smithers said:
For the past year, the Legal Ombudsman have been working with ESRO to deliver a piece of research called ‘Understanding Customer Needs’.
They have now announced their Service Principles which you can read here.
